Week 4

Another busy week! Went to London on Monday for a talk by Nelson Graburn (an anthropologist and Inuit art specialist) and stopped by the British Museum just before. What a fabulous institution. On Thursday I gave a 45 min. presentation on my work and research to students and faculty in my school (around 25 people came), and it went really well. A bunch of us went out afterward for drinks, which is where these pictures are from. I seemed to have caught some people off guard, but at least you'll get the general idea!

Over the weekend Norwich hosted a food festival with tons of specialty vendors and tasting events, which was fantastic. I went and checked out the French market, which as you may have guessed, were actually vendors who came up from France to sell their goods. They had all the wonderful cheeses, breads, sausages, coffees, and handmade sweet-smelling soaps you could dream of, and the place was bustling with "foodies" and inspired gourmets. On Saturday, I also went to a mini music festival...there was this amazingly talented guy there who played the electric violin like a dream. He did his own renditions of "Smells like Teen Spirit" (Nirvana), "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" (Beatles), and some song from Riverdance by slowly building up these loops and then once established, he would play over them with the main melody. Don't know if that makes sense, but it was incredible.

That's all for now...more soon!
