Do I work in an iPod?

Hello all. I'd just like to share some photos with you of the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, which is the building where you can find me most days. It houses the Sainsbury Research Unit, the program in which I'm doing my PhD. Someone pointed out to me recently how much this building resembles an iPod with all its white laminate, shiny glass and metal surfaces, and seamless entryways...it sort of has an uber modern "bubble" feel, which is what the architect, Lord Norman Foster (also the architect of the new glass ceiling at the British Museum), was probably going for when he created the building in the mid 1970s. Take this photo for instance:

It may look like a long hallway, but it is in fact a Ladies Restroom. Ultra sleek and chic, if only you can figure out how to get into the stalls!

On the left is the SRU work and study area. All of the M.A. and Ph.D. students have their own desks and access to media resources. You can find me here most days! In addition to the SRU and WAM (the World Art and Museology program), the building also houses an extensive collection of African, Polynesian, Precolombian, and European art and artifacts that are some of the best examples of their kind.

I've actually been tapped to give a gallery talk on some of the Mesoamerican objects to a group of volunteer gallery guides in early February, so on top of everything else, I'm trying to put together some useful information for them as well. Whew! Anyway, if you'd like more information on the Sainsbury Centre and its collections, have a look at their website:
